Boating is a great way to spend time with friends and family. However, you do need to ensure that your boat is stocked with the items you and your passengers will need for a safe and comfortable trip. Here are some of our recommendations on what to bring.

Safety Gear

In order to keep everyone safe, a life jacket (otherwise known as a personal flotation device) for each passenger is a must. You’ll also want to have a throwable life ring, a radio, signal flares, a fire extinguisher, and a first-aid kit.

Proper Documentation

Most states require that you have the right documentation when you are on your boat. Check local requirements to find out what documentation you will need. Typically, you’ll need to have some form of personal identification, such as a driver's license, along with current boat registration and insurance documentation.

Food & Drink

Finally, you should have some food and drinks to keep everyone sated and content. A cooler full of sandwiches, string cheese, fresh fruit, soda, bottled water, and juice boxes should keep the whole family happy. Granola bars, chips, crackers, and nuts are good non-perishable items to have handy, too.
